The company’s press release is as follows: Today, almost all paper cups used in the market are lined with a thin layer of plastic to prevent liquid leakage. However, because of this plastic, the cups are unsuitable for either paper recycling or plastic recycling, ending up directly in landfills and contributing to global plastic pollution. Thanks to HydroLoop technology — developed and introduced by Recyloop as an innovative solution — cups become fully recyclable, biodegradable, and aligned with the principles of a circular economy. This new technology, with its special coating made of 97% water and 3% bio-based polymer, eliminates the need for a plastic layer. With this innovation, truly recyclable paper cup production becomes possible, aiming to prevent 100,000 kilograms of plastic waste annually.
Recyloop aims to produce 50% of its annual 1 billion cups using HydroLoop technology by 2026, and 95% by 2030. With these investments, the company will continue to directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
ACQUIRED THE AMERICAN GIANT’S PRODUCTION LINES As one of the pioneering companies in sustainable packaging, Recyloop recently relocated the paper cup facility of PARTYCITY — a key player in the U.S. billion-dollar party and entertainment sector — to Turkey, transferring its advanced automation paper cup production lines. Recyloop imported seven special PMC paper cup lines from the U.S., adding them to its newly acquired 20 lines, reaching a total of 27 production lines. This investment stands out as the single largest capacity expansion ever made in Turkey in the paper cup industry. With the acquisition of PARTYCITY’s lines, Recyloop not only brought in a facility but also transferred decades of production technology and sectoral expertise from the U.S. to Turkey. Equipped with artificial intelligence–supported quality control systems and designed to minimize energy and water consumption, the facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 5.5 billion cups within the next five years, meeting more than 1% of global production on its own.
CERTIFYING TURKEY’S SUSTAINABILITY VISION Highlighting that becoming a finalist in the Sustainable Business Awards represents not only Recyloop’s achievement but also the international recognition of Turkey’s sustainability vision, Recyloop Sustainable Packaging Inc. Board Member Ömer Erhan Eroğlu stated: “Relocating the PMC lines of PARTYCITY — a company with $2.5 billion in global revenue, operations in more than 150 countries, its own paper cup production, the number-one print and sealing quality in the U.S., and the largest coffee and party products retailer — to Turkey was one of the most significant steps in turning Turkey into a global hub for sustainable packaging production. Being a finalist in the Sustainable Business Awards signifies not only Recyloop’s but also Turkey’s sustainability vision being recognized on the international stage. With our HydroLoop technology, we have for the first time offered a genuine recycling alternative for single-use cups. We will leverage the experience our founders have gained over the years by supplying major institutions such as Starbucks, McDonald’s, Burger King, Espresso Lab, Caffè Nero, and Turkish Airlines to achieve our goal of leaving a cleaner and more livable world for future generations.”
