RecyLoop is proud to announce the completion of the patent application process for its breakthrough sustainable packaging technology, Coraloop, a next-generation barrier solution designed for paper cups and food packaging that fundamentally transforms recyclability.
Coraloop is a high-performance, PHA-based coating system that adheres to paper fibres to create a robust barrier against water and grease — without relying on fossil additives or traditional plastics. Unlike conventional plastic-coated paper cups, Coraloop-treated packaging retains the inherent recyclability of paper while also being fully compostable and biologically degradable in marine environments. This means that if Coraloop-coated packaging enters nature, it will not persist as plastic waste.
The Coraloop innovation brings together advances in material science, polymer engineering, and natural fibre technologies, enabling the first industrial-scale application of a truly biodegradable coating that addresses the recycling challenges posed by plastic barriers. By replacing polyethylene layers with Coraloop, RecyLoop is enabling a major leap forward in circular packaging design — ensuring that paper cups and food service packaging are genuinely returnable to nature without compromise.
